Our Story
Both B.J. and Sharah were born and raised on the Western Slope and have been a part of their family farms and ranches their entire lives. After dating for 7 years, B.J. and Sharah were married in June of 2007. As a wedding gift, they received 2 pregnant heifers from Joe and Vicki Russell, which would turn out to be the greatest wedding gift they could have imagined. From that day……

We have been blessed with the opportunity to officially become the 5th generation of Russell/Giles farmers/ranchers in Loma Colorado. And better yet, the 6th generation is currently in training. Now, a family of 4, we have two little helpers- Huck Thomas (4), and Bowen Lee (1). These two little boys go everywhere with us and we are so thankful to have the opportunity to raise our children in the farming and ranching way of life.
Our cattle operation’s winter country is in Loma Colorado where we calve and finish our cattle. In Loma, the herd grazes on lower valley pastures and various crop fields. The Loma Ranch is also where we finish our beef at our feedlot. Our finish program is tried and true with 30 plus years of performance history. Our fat beef are placed on a calculated ration that consists of 90-120 days of quality alfalfa, corn silage, and ground corn. This final period of finishing ensures you, the consumer, will get a healthy, top quality product.
B.J. is a graduate of Colorado Mesa University with bachelor's degrees in Business Management and Marketing. Sharah is also a graduate of Colorado Mesa University with a bachelor's degree in Business Management. Over the past 9 years the herd has grown substantially and now we are excited to start providing locally raised beef to the community. Our goal is to promote Colorado agriculture, the local food movement “pasture to plate” concept, and do our best to provide products that are "Colorado’s Finest”.
